Seminar on the edition of Busoni’s concert program collection
In addition to nearly 9,000 letters written by and to Busoni, the Busoni estate at the Berlin State Library contains numerous other collections, including Busoni’s collection of approximately 600 concert programs. In the summer term of 2026, we will explore ways of incorporating these sources into our edition in a joint hybrid seminar at Humboldt University in Berlin and the KarlsruheUniversity of Music. The aim is to use this corpus to trace Busoni’s career as a virtuoso and conductor and his respective repertoire, to develop open standard formats for the structured encoding of concert events, to test exchange formats with similarly oriented projects and the central database musiconn.performance, and to explore automation potential (OCR, AI).

<p>Im <persName key="E0300017">Busoni</persName>-Nachlass der Staatsbibliothek zu <placeName key="E0500029">Berlin</placeName> befinden sich neben den knapp 9.000 Briefen von und an <persName key="E0300017">Busoni</persName> noch zahlreiche weitere Bestandsgruppen, so u. a. <persName key="E0300017">Busonis</persName> Sammlung von ca. 600 Konzertprogrammen. <date when-iso="2026-04/2026-09">Im Sommersemester 2026</date> werden wir in einem gemeinsamen Hybrid-Seminar der <orgName key="E0600132">Humboldt-Universität zu <placeName key="E0500029">Berlin</placeName></orgName> und der <orgName key="E0600218">Hochschule für Musik <placeName key="E0500207">Karlsruhe</placeName></orgName> Wege erkunden, diese Quellen in unsere Edition einzubiehen. Ziel ist es, <persName key="E0300017">Busonis</persName> Karrieren als Klaviervirtuose und Dirigent sowie das jeweilige Repertoire anhand dieses Korpus und im Kontext seiner Zeit nachzuvollziehen, dabei offene Standardformate zur strukturierten Erfassung von Konzertereignissen zu entwickeln, den Austausch mit ähnlich ausgerichteten Projekten und der zentralen Aufführungsdatenbank <ref type="ext" target="https://performance.musiconn.de/">musiconn.performance</ref> zu erproben und Automatisierungspotentiale (OCR, KI) auszuloten.</p>
